| Learning Context:
FINAL PROJECT Students will prepare the following as their final project for this class: 1. Using the CareerZone website, locate and print the desired career choice. 2. From the CareerZone information, prepare a job description for the career. 3. Identify the company where the internship took place. 4. Conduct an interview with the site supervisor about job duties. 5. Using Powerpoint, present the findings of this project to the class. Students will need to know how to use the following: 1. Internet 2. Word Processing Program (Microsoft Word) 3. Graphics Program (PowerPoint) LEARNING STANDARDS: ELA #2 CDOS #1,2,3,4 MST #2 |
| Procedure:
The students will: 1. Work independently in the Media Center on Internet research. 2. Conduct an interview with someone employed in their chosen career. 3. Organize the material found using Microsoft Word. 4. Prepare a PowerPoint slide show with the material they have gathered. 5. Present the slide show to the class. The teacher will: 1. Provide support. 2. Provide guidance. 3. Provide encouragement. |

Students will be provided with: 1. Internet access 2. Access to word processing system 3. Access to PowerPoint |
| Time Required:
The students will be given this project at the beginning of the last marking period. They will be required to present their careers during the last week of school. This will give the student approximately 10 weeks to prepare. |

| Reflections:
Students have an opportunity to experience their career choice through an actual internship program. In the Business Experience program, students are required to work a minimum of 40 hours in their chosen career field. This project (which serves as their final exam) provides a summary of this activity. Having researched the career, worked in the field, and interviewed employees currently employed, the students can affirm or disaffirm their desire to pursue a career in this area. |
