|
| Learning Context:

Students will utilize their communication, research, computers, and presentation skills. LEARNING STANDARDS: ELA 1, 2, 3, 4 ARTS 3,4 HPE & HE 2, 3 CDOS 1, 2, 3A, 3B MST 2, 3, 6, 7 SS 1, 2, 4 |
| Procedure:
(SEE ATTACHED SHEET) 1. Give students worksheet #1 and have them search for CareerZone jobs that are unfamiliar to them. DAY 1: Search occupations in all 6 clusters using jobs that begin with the letters A-F. DAY 2: Search occupations in all 6 clusters using jobs that begin with the letters G-L. DAY 3: Search occupations in all 6 clusters using jobs that begin with the letters M-R. DAY 4: Search occupations in all 6 clusters using jobs that begin with the letters S-Z. 2. After students complete their own worksheet, generate a master list on the board. List all 6 clusters with 5 spaces under each. 3. Have students volunteer to share one of their jobs from their list. Have the class as a group decide each choice by voting what choice should be added to the master list. The group leader should ask each student to respond why that particular job is interesting to him/her. 4. After the master list is completed, break the class into cluster groups. A group of 4-5 students representing one cluster each. There should be six groups total. (If there are not enough students, you may have to do the remaining clusters together as a group.) Five copies of worksheet #2 should be given to each cluster group. 5. Students are responsible for answering all of the questions for each job located in their cluster. 6. Each group will present to the class the results from their research. It is preferred that one member present one of the jobs in their group so every student has a turn. (One student may need to go twice or another job may need to be added depending on the size of the group.) 7. After each cluster group has presented, the leader may generate feedback or comments from the group. Elicit information that was just learned. If they know someone who has a particular job, discuss the world of work, how it has changed and is continuing to change, etc. |
